The Fitness Industry is Changing

The constant talk about nutrition, fitness, and other topics would make you believe the health sector is broke.

I confess to getting tired of reading blog posts about all of the problems. It doesn’t really matter what your goals are: to lose weight and gain muscle, or to find a real diet that works.

Bring up any topic to hear complaints about improving the fitness industry.

Bad trainers

Bad gyms

Bad diets

Bad studies

Study gaps

Information deficient

Too much information

No discipline

CrossFit

Calm down. This last one is a joke. It really is.

I could keep going, and regardless of how many "flaws", each one would still leave another hundred. This is why some people think that improving nutrition, fitness, and health is a lost cause. Why bother trying to repair a broken system?

The obvious answer is, we don't have any other options. Your health is our most precious resource.

There are legitimate reasons why people spend so much money on their health to feel and look better. Your health is crucial. Your appearance is important. You should make it a priority to create a body capable of coping with the multitude of stresses that life throws at you. This is the modern equivalent of survival of the ill.

It doesn't make a difference who you are or how rich you are. Then, your life will crush you.

It only makes sense that we continue to attempt to fix the system. At this point it is important to step back and admit that we may be trying to fix the wrong problems.

What if the focus was shifted from external factors we can't control to internal ones?

One simple way to reduce stress is by focusing my energy on aspects of my own health that I can direct control.

I don't have to worry about what the outcome will be. And although I play a significant role in the fitness community, I don’t think I can control the results.

If I were in charge, I'd spend less time trying repair the fitness industry than trying to fix myself.

It may sound absurd, considering the image-based reality fitness, but this mindset is key to less stress and more success.

Being overweight is not something that should be ashamed of. Were not meant to be thin? Muscled people could be relieved of the feeling that they are failing if they look at someone bigger or more powerful.

It's clear that, no matter what physical state you are in, all people have inadequacies and this makes it harder to live a healthy life.
